What is ecotourism?
Ecotourism is a rapidly expanding industry with a focus on ethical, environmentally responsible travel. Ecotourism promotes environmental conservation and sustainable tourism practices while supporting local communities and culture. Ecotourists minimise their ecological footprint, often attending ethical wildlife or bush safaris in specialised conservation reserves, rainforest treks with local guides, and staying in eco-lodges that use renewable energy, while engaging with cultural tourism in a way that is mindful and responsible.

What is the earning potential for jobs in ecotourism?
The ecotourism industry offers a diverse range of career opportunities and types of income. As an ecotourism or adventure guide, you might start out earning $200-$1000 per day. However as a successful eco-lodge operator or luxury eco-resort or high-end tour provider, the possibilities exceed six figures. For a small to mid-sized ecotourism business, operators or guides generally earn $60,000-120,000 per year. Not bad for chasing your passion and waking up to an adventure everyday!
Do I need prior experience before I start?
No, our online ecotourism courses assume no prior knowledge and are designed as a practical guide to help you learn. You will be supported by your tutor as you progress through your studies.
How long do the courses take?
Online courses (tutor-supported)
100-hours: one month full-time or up to 12 months part-time
Each tutor-driven online course takes approximately 100 hours of study applied flexibly over a 12-month period. This means you can tailor your study around your lifestyle, with a minimum part-time requirement of two hours of online study per week over the year, or you can fast-track your ecotourism career by completing your course within a month or so of full-time study.
Each lesson requires you to submit a written assessment to your tutor for feedback, enhancing your learning experience by guaranteeing your ongoing engagement with the course materials. This ensures you are not tempted to skip over a lesson that could provide vital knowledge in your field of study. There are also non-assessable, self-assessment quizzes for each lesson to help test your knowledge. This means that by the end of the course you will have really engaged with the course materials, which we know equals learning!
Short courses (self-directed)
Our short courses offer excellent value for money and an introduction into your field of study. They are self-directed learning packages, which means they don’t offer the same tutor-support as our online courses but can offer greater flexibility and economy while still providing you with the desired learning outcomes and a certificate of completion at the end of your study.
Who are the tutors?
You will get a one-on-one tutor with our 100-hour online horticulture and gardening courses. You will be supported every step of the way. When you enrol you will receive a welcome email from your tutor. You are free to email them for help or guidance as much as you need to. We employ tutors who are active in their field, so the support is by email.
Accreditation and Recognition
All of our courses are proudly recognised by the International Accreditation & Recognition Council (IARC), a premier non-government recognition body that ensures quality and consistency of education provided by its members across the Commonwealth and Pacific nations.
